Frangula rupestris ?

Toothed leaf edge, finely but there it is. Compared to other images of mine of F. alnus - no teeth anywhere.

With your pictures, F. rupestris cannot be confirmed. Where did the plant grow? How high was it and what was its growth habit?

No. Not Rhamnaceae but Euonymus latifolius.
