Phanerochaete sanguinea ?

Beitrag von BubikolRamios »

Encountered some images on net that suggests red part could be Phanerochaete sanguinea.

The other info I have from somewhere is that green could become red due to UV light, thought not likely/not possible at case on image.

Hi,
the green colouration can be caused by several species:
Chlorociboria aeruginascens, Chlorociboria aeruginosa and Fungi of Temperate Europe also mentions Aeruginoscyphus sericeus (in southern Europe).
This wood staining is very durable and has been used for wood inlays. Very old pieces still show the colour, UV light has not changed anything.

The extremely intense red colour should indeed come from Phanerochaete sanguinea. However, there are other species that are said to colour wood reddish, such as Pycnoporus cinnabarinus and a few ascomycetes.
